Hi Aunt Melissa,
After I replied the first time I got to thinking...they will probably use a bone conduction vibrator to test the hearing sensitivity of Julia's cochlea. It just vibrates the bones of the skull to stimulate the cochlea. This tests ONLY the hearing sensitive of the cochlea and bypasses any problems with the outer and middle ears (in Julia's case her closed ear canal). This is just my guess as to what they might do...I'll still try and see what else I can find out.
